As some of you know, we spent the last 3 winters in Myrtle Beach (and North Myrtle Beach), South Carolina. Well, that wandering tendency that John and I have got the better of us this winter, and we decided to try Florida for a spell!

We got here (Port Orange, FL) the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, and will stay until the end of April. The climate is terrific! In fact, just today - December 15, 2011, we just got back from playing a set of tennis (John SOUNDLY beat me, 6-2, if we're keeping score correctly! LOL! We're trying to learn the nuances of the game - how many games in a set, how many in a match...)

But anyway, this winter, instead of renting a condo on the beach, we opted a little inland and got a little house that had a den area for me to concentrate on my work on the website, and a space for John to do his work.

With the holidays upon us (still hard for people from New England to get used to seeing Christmas lights wrapped around palm trees), it's easy to start thinking of holiday travel and vacations. Hi everyone!

If you have been keeping up with our Fine Resort Vacation site over the last few months, you'll notice that we have been adding pages about some more adventures! We have spent the last 2 winters in the Myrtle Beach, SC area, and so are adding information that we have been gathering about Myrtle Beach Life & Living as well! And, we'll be adding more as time goes on!

Even though we are "snowbirds" in the Myrtle Beach area (at least for now!), there are several great vacation resorts in the area through your GRN (Gold Crown) vacation membership. The information I add about Myrtle Beach Restaurants and shopping will come in handy to ANYONE vacationing in that beautiful spot!

So, keep your eyes open, and please let us know if you find great places that YOU would like us to add to the site as well!

First of all, Happy New Year one and all! As many of you probably have noticed, we've been adding lots of great pages here at Fine Resort Vacation. After taking a few different trips over the course of 2009, we decided to begin posting reviews, as well as other helpful content for you and the travelling public.

For example, if you visit our Vacation Review page, you'll start to see a number of different vacations and/or resorts that we have been visiting. We will be adding an area for YOU to also post reviews and comments about different resorts and destinations you have visited.

If you go first to the Vacation Review page, and then scroll down, you will see a couple of different location specific pages added. For example, we went to Banner Elk, North Carolina last year, and wrote about it there. Then, within the Banner Elk review page are ADDITIONAL pages - including one dedicated to talking about the resort we stayed at - Blue Ridge Village in Banner Elk, one of the thousands of resorts available to GRN members. We even made a YouTube Video (which you can see at the main Banner Elk page).

Also, we went to St. Maarten (again!), and are including reviews about it as well, under the Caribbean Resort Reviews part of the site. 

In addition, we're adding travel packing tips. And, since we enjoy cooking - along with the challenge of cooking and eating well while travelling, we'll be adding pages dedicated to that as well!

Hopefully these - and other - additions to our site will help you as you prepare for your own resort holidays! We'll see you here again soon!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while! After we returned home from South Carolina where we spent last winter, we got busy working on the house and garden (although it wasn't much of a gardening type of summer this year). Then, just last month, we made the decision to sell our house in Randolph, NH where we have been for a long time. But, it is time for the next adventure, and we would like to do more travelling.

Anyway, after we booked our upcoming St. Martin vacation (booked right through our own Global Resorts Network membership (the membership is actually with Gold Crown Resort), we needed to get flights! We are VERY happy to report to you that using our membership, we got a FAR better deal from Boston to St. Martin than we found on Expedia. For the 2 of us, travelling non-stop on Jet Blue round-trip, it cost a total of $1,207.10 (This price includes the taxes, which were over $100 each. Aren't taxes amazing?).

So, I am very glad to report that the travel membership has terrific value well beyond the actual resort stays. Please check out all the great info here on our site! Fine Resort Vacation - This membership truly is a vacationer's dream come true!

Even though we've been enjoying our winter living down on the South Carolina coast this winter, we still haven't had a nice Caribbean luxury vacation in a while! So, we looked at our calendar for the year to see what kind of great vacation we could fit into our schedule. Since we're coming back to the Myrtle Beach area beginning in December, we decided to take a nice break before hand and visit one of our favorite spots: St. Maarten (Sint Maarten is the Dutch side, and Saint Martin is the French side - same island!).

It turns out that we are going to try two different resorts, and of course we will report back to all of you afterwards. For our first week, November 7-14, we will be staying at the Oyster Bay Beach Resort, and for the second week, November 14-21, we will be at Divi Little Bay Beach. Both are absolutely gorgeous resorts! You can check them out at the resort registry and see for yourself the places we'll be staying. Click here to visit our Resort Registry. When the window opens up, you will be prompted for a Login Name and Password. Simply type "resort" for your login name, and "lookfor" for your password.

Then, at the drop-down menu, scroll down and choose "St. Maarten" and click the "Search" button.

You'll now see a list of the available resorts in St. Maarten that are part of our network. Go ahead and check out Divi Little Bay Beach and the Oyster Bay Beach Resort! And, if you decide to join our luxury vacation travel membership and book a vacation in St. Maarten while we are there, please look us up at the resorts! We would love to meet you! Since it will be somewhat of a working vacation, we'll have our computer with us and will be checking emails as well - so we really would love to hear from you and get together while we're there.
